Learning from the Masters

Alrighty! I've always loved Renaissance art, but now I'm on a HUGE Renaissance art kick... and the more I think about it, the more I think I can learn from it. Artists trained by working as apprentices under experienced masters, copying the best works of others to gain experience and technical skill... and I'm realizing that my view of "BAH copying a picture that already exists is not fanart" has kept me from learning the techniques of artists far more talented than I. I really need to start working on that. That used to be all I would do about 6-7 years ago, but I don't think I've drawn a pre-existing piece of art (be it a famous painting or a frame from a manga) for about 4 years... and that's kinda bad. So. -shrugs- Just thought I'd share.

I won't be posting that stuff though, since my "BAH" view still holds true. ^_^;;;
